Virtual Pavilion : Idea Sketch
The pavilion will be two phase, The first one will be a room for translating tools that will be placed according to its translation power, time,.. and how much power the thing has, will effect how details of the ornament in the next room (next phase)
Next phase will talk about matter of fact and concern of thing.
I am interested on how thing translates data from imagination to physical.
brain > machine = first result
first result translated by second person = second result (distorted form the first one)
second result > third person = third result
Every time data will be interpreted differently and The space will change according to the previous visitor. The space will be interpreted and change every visiting and it will be developed to infinity.
I am thinking of setting parameter on how visitor interacts the space the space will transform according to the previous visit. (this is an idea)
The idea is not clear right now but i will add details on 3.1 and 3.2 later. I feel like they are different ideas that are subset of one another.

ReplyDeleteYour idea of making the space show the translation power of different tools. Or extractors of imagination. You should focus on the typewriter and not make two separate rooms. The two rooms will show different information that are in so many ways inseparable. The matters of facts concerning the typewriter, the mechanics, how it works etc is deeply related to the more intellectual argument you are developing.
I think your idea of having the room change depending on the previous visitor is interesting but consider instead how you, as a visitor can see how you alter the room, live. The next visitor might not be able to understand what the changes are if he or she did not see it before. You should look at Dan Graham's early work, like Time Delay Room for instance. Could be very interesting. Video or sound recordings could be seen as another form of translating device. Consider carefully what time of grammar to use. What will change, or distort in the space according to your "input/imagination".
What if the architecture is the translation tool to express ideas regarding spaces? I did a project in my second year titled "The vision Machine" which was a computer game I created to simulate the way we create spaces in dreams.

I think it could be very useful to work with known architectural grammars. Familiar elements etc. Do not forget that the entire history and context of the tools and its place in the museum also has to find a place in your virtual space.
